Christian Fatherhood - A Manly Art

St. Paul Men’s Ministry Celebrates Christian Manhood

On June 11th men of all ages and many with their sons experienced an evening of music and sharing that honored fatherhood and the responsibilities of a Christian man in today’s society. Led in prayer by Father John the group reflected on the ways in which men can help build up a life of faith in their families, parish, community and workplace. Denis Mullins inspired us with music calling men to arise to the call of Christian manhood while honoring Jesus’ relationship with God the Father and with Saint Joseph. John Nunziata reflected on the example of Saint Joseph being obedient, selfless and a hard worker. Steve Daffron recalled his spiritual roots in rural Arkansas and his faith journey inspired by his grandfathers and father. His initiation into the Catholic faith influenced by this wife’s, Linda, example is a reflection on how evangelization starts in the home. Steve, Linda, their three children and six grandchildren have grown in wisdom and grace as a family. Steve’s theme was “walking with my fathers to The Father”.  Bill McLaughlin shared the story of his Dad, Don, who recently returned to the Lord. Inspired by his Dad’s faith and life example Bill and his wife Selina have God at the center of their family as they raise their two children. His father’s influence on Bill’s faith was deep and strong – it lasted a lifetime. Don’s faith lives on in Bill’s commitment to live a life of prayer, faith and the Sacraments. Bill’s theme, “the story of a soul”, reflected the life of St. Therese, his dad’s favorite saint.

While the times and culture around us will always be changing, how we raise our sons and daughters should not.  As Christian men what matters most to God is what must matter most to us. Steve, Bill and Denis know what matters most.
